Endings and Beginnings, Beginnings and Endings

Ahh... a typical Monday at school. The day starts off with morning assembly. But today's assembly is a little different, 'cause backstage somewhere SMKBU's Choral Speaking team is getting ready and they are really practicing hard.

The Choral Speaking team wouldn't need to be so tense if
- they practiced more on Thursday. (The conductor gets full blame for lack of practice.)
- and if all the members showed up. Who gets the blame??

And so here starts the story. As told by conductor Rhonwyn Hagedorn, 3 Amanah.

When the bell rang an anouncement was made for all Choral Speakers to gather in the canteen. 5 minutes later I asked Julian to make another one, but no one else showed up except those who were already in the canteen. Head count: 21 Choral Speaking members out of 32 that went for competition. Where did the missing ones go I did not know. Some had an excusable excuse for not coming. But the rest....?

Since majority of the absent ones had solo parts, we had to find substitutes from those who came. It took a while to sort out. Lots of hoo haa here and there and questions about the movements and lines... In the end we got that sorted out... and then full practice. Thanks to long speeches on stage, we got to practice a full round and 2/3 of another round.

Then it was show time. When I walked out there were some comments like "ooo mat selleh". Translated: There's the JU mat salleh who takes pics during assembly... but now she's without her camera nor her JU tag, so whats going on now?" Skip the junk.

When we entered stage I noticed a mistake.

The 3 long lines are row one, two and three. Line one is the shortest.
The light blue dot is me.
The orang square are where the teachers are sitting.
And the white, yes, the students.

Now what went wrong.

The red dot is Brian. Now Brian's spot is on the right, as seen in this picture.

But today when we were on stage, row one came out the wrong way and Brian ended up standing on the left, like in this pic.

The SMKBU people sitting down were a bit... annoying. But what can we do? They were giving comments like "Translate into BM, I can't understand" or "I can't hear anything!" And the solutions to cure those problems?

Solution to problem 1. Speak and read more English.

Solution to problem 2. Don't talk when we're reciting our script!!

Overall I think we did really well considering the small amount of students who showed up.

Students who showed up for competition. Exclude the Form 5 members and Simone who changed school last Friday. Now compare to the amount who showed up.

Taa daa... Big difference isn't it?

I'm so proud of those who still had the spirit for Choral Speaking and showed up. And I know Mr Eugene is proud of you guys as well. To those who didn't come without a reason..... My message to you...

"Haha"

It means something, that "haha" up there, you just gotta know what it means.

Message to all members:

Choral Speaking is about the team, and your small little flame of passion for Choral Speaking will make a big difference. It makes us as a team shine even brighter when we recite our script. A dead flame among us is noticable.

If there is another upcoming event that requests Choral Speaking, I hope that everyone has a small flame of passion.

But if no more events, this is the end of our Choral Speaking journey this year, an ending, but a bright new beginning next year when we go back for competition, high hopes of winning the top. But also knowing that we have won in our hearts, as a brightly lit team.

Inked

Yeah, inked. XD

Today I skipped BM class to take Ju pics. *evil laugh* It was fun... and I got to use Kim's camera... Wish I had a DSLR... its like No1 on my birthday/Christmas wishlist. And something that money can't buy, good PMR grades. XD Followed by a Vaio laptop and a acoustic plug-in guitar... =P Funny.

When I was younger like lets say 5, I would ask for lollipops and colouring books and kiddie stuff like that. Now its all stuff maybe 20X more the price of a colouring book. =P But of course, we can't have everything. So probably I'd get a colouring book for Christmas this year. Haha. XD

Anyway, after I came back to class I found Azim looking through my pencil case and using my permanent markers. (shh... don't tell the prefects I brought permanent markers to school.... XD) And then I guess he ran out of paper and ganged up with Paul to draw on my face. Yes... Draw on my face, with my markers. zzzz

I tried hiding under the table but Shahidan pushed me out. I thought he was my friend!!! XD Then Paul held my arms and Azim drwe lines on my face. The end result....

Left side

Right side

These were candid so no... I didn't know they were taken with my own camera. =P

And in other news,

This little guy I found in one of the sinks in school. He was drowing in water so I rescued him. XD
Shahidan freaked out when I brought him to class... Don't know why they're scared of bugs. This guy is harmless...!

But in the end I relieved Shahidan off a little of his fears and we named him Ringo Star... 'cause he's a "Bettle" XD. I wanted to name hin George Harrison but then Ringo Star seemed to suit better. He flew away after a while. Wonder why he didn't do that earlier...

New Semester

Holidays are over and a new semester begins. And its gonna be a hectic/fun/stressful/awesome/woohoo/omg/yeehaw/arrggghh/supercalafragalisticexpialadocious semester.

The first week is always one of the busiest 'cause we all gotta catch up on things we missed and have to finish doing that we didn't do during the holidays eg. Sejarah project. HA.

Its gettin' closer to PMR as well... and no I'm not looking forward to that... but after its done everything will be better. =D

And other than that... I guess most stuff will still be the same. =D

To all SMKBU people,

If your looking forward to the next holiday just remember its a few more months left and after that its a new year and we repeat everything once again! Haha.

Cough

I mean, everything is going to be ok. If you are stressed over problems just know that your not the only one ot there who is stressed. =P Remember, a locksmith would never manufacture a lock without a key, same goes that God won't create problems without solutions. =D

Happy not holidays! Welcome back to school everyone!

An honest post about Teachers Day '09

Yes I KNOW I haven't been blogging because, yes... I have been busy. And I still am but I'm just gonna blog anyway.

About 2 weeks ago we celebrated Teachers Day!! *yay* *claps*

And no I will not post any pics up but I will make a short description about Teachers Day. In fact, I could describe it in one word,
LAME
Why lame? Ha. There are many reasons why. Lets start from the morning.
Ok so everyone was happy. Then when the speeches came, yea the usual. Memang boring la. The teachers sang a song for us... and they were ok.... but there wasn't the feel in their singing. The looks on their faces were like "We were forced to do this thing," No smiles. Why humiliate yourself and sing infront of your students right? Lame.
Then the prefects gave out their goody bagos!! They looked nice this year, green and had "Teachers Day '09" printed on it. They gave away "mini Oscars" to each teacher. Lovingly drawn, cut and painted. Problem was there were supposed to have the teachers face on the little Oscar, but it was due to some reasons that there was no picture. Some of the male teachers mistakenly got a girl Oscar... muahahahaha.... Lame.
Moving on we got to STONE for about an hour 'cause the teachers were playing games, which were lame. They even played "pass the ball". OMG. Thats one way to feel young... but it was ridiculous. Lame.
Then everyone went inside the hall for performances! There was only one word to describe the performance, and yes, the word is, Lame. The lower 6 did a few songs. One guy sang "Hungry Heart" and that was.... funny. Then there was another band who did Taylor Swifts "Love Story" which for me I thought was stupid. How many teachers do you think know the song "Love Story" let alone know who Taylor Swift is??!?! Yeah, and they said these songs were dedicated to the teachers. Pfftt. The upper 6 were lame 'cause they weren't.. serious. They would stop singing or they would go out of pitch. At least they sang more sensible songs like "Think of me" from Phantom of The Opera and "Memory" from the musical Cats.
The prefects singing was also pretty stupid. They were looking AT the microphone and NOT the teachers. Some out of pitch, some doing actions and some not and some didn't know what they were doing.
When it was announced the "last performance" I was annoyed 'cause I was supposed to do a drum circle, and maybe less than 5 min before I was supposed to do it my circle got cancelled 'cause there was no time left! What the **** man. It took me a week to get the drums and then you tell me that you don't wanna do the circle?? This was worse than lame. It was... mean. Like... oh look no time. Cancel the circle. Rhonwyn won't mind.
I feel so used. I wanted to do the circle because its with the teachers. And its the TEACHERS who get to play. Not sit there and watch dumb performances "dedicated" to the teachers.
Yeesh. So now you know why teachers day was so lame... and so stupid.
Performances, students and so called lack of time.
And I know some people might hate me for this post, especially the prefects. You know who you are.
But as the title says, its an honest post.
